Does Walden find my preceptor for me?
No. Walden requires you to identify and secure your own preceptor and site, then nominate them in Meditrek for approval before the course starts. We do that search and paperwork for you. (Some sites require Walden to finalize placement directly; we handle that route too.)
What is Meditrek?
Meditrek is Walden's online portal for practicum applications, time and patient logs, and preceptor sign-off. You cannot register for a practicum course without an approved Meditrek application, so we prepare and submit yours.
How many practicum hours do I need?
Walden's NP tracks (FNP, PMHNP, AGPCNP, AGACNP, PNP) require 640 hours across four 160-hour courses. The DNP requires a minimum of 1,000 post-bachelor's hours, and the RN-to-BSN capstone is 100 hours. Some states (for example Kansas) carry their own minimums.
Can I do my NP practicum self-paced with Tempo Learning?
No. Tempo Learning, Walden's competency-based format, is only available for Nursing Education, Nurse Executive, and Nursing Informatics. The NP specializations are course-based.
